Worldwide Water Education

Educate. Empower. Act. The mission of Project WET is to reach children, parents, educators and communities of the world with water education. We invite you to join us in educating children about the most precious resource on the planet — water.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

NOAA helps educators and students achieve greater environmental literacy and understanding of:

  • marine ecosystems.
  • their role in sustaining healthy ecosystems.

It first approached Project WET in 2000 to produce the Kids in Discovery series (KIDs) publication, Explore Oceans.  Since then, Project WET and NOAA have developed:

  • Discover Bays and Estuaries.
  • Discover Coral Reefs.
  • Celebrate Wetlands.
  • Explore Oceans.
  • Fish and Fishing.
  • Discover Marine Mammals.
  • Discover Ports and Harbors.
  • Coral Reefs Activity Sampler.

The following offices within NOAA have contributed to these publications.

  • National Marine Fisheries Service, Office of Habitat Conservation.
  • National Ocean Service.
  • National Weather Service.
  • Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research.
  • National Environmental Satellite, Date and Information Service.

Impact
Because of the vision and support of NOAA, today’s students, tomorrow’s leaders, are being educated about important water-related topics.

Since first approaching Project WET in 2000, more than 250,000 children have been reached with water education through NOAA-funded Project WET publications.
