Summary
The Assistant is responsible for supporting the Project WET USA Executive Director in administering and maintaining a comprehensive support service program for Project WET USA's National Network of state Project WET programs and affiliates. The primary responsibilities include: assisting in the coordination of the Project WET USA activities (65 percent), and assisting the ED in project management (35 percent). Moderate out-of-state travel is required.
Duties include:
- Work closely with the Executive Director
- Serve as the primary e-mail and phone contact for the network, manage day-to-day support of the Project WET USA national office and the network to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Manage and maintain document files (electronic and paper) for the Project WET USA office.
- Collaborate in developing, editing, and maintaining content for the Project WET USA documents to meet the public’s need for information and the coordinator network’s need for resources.
- Maintain the Project WET USA web office including data entry and calendar management
- Organize conference calls.
- Assist in organizing water festivals across the USA.
- Assist in producing a monthly e-mail newsletter for the Project WET USA network as a primary tool of the communications plan.
- Assemble the data and assist in the production of annual reports for Project WET USA .
- Create a welcome and information packet for new Project WET USA state / host institution coordinators.
- Maintain and manage the Project WET USA e-mail list.
- Maintain an accurate and current database of network contacts.
- Assist on select water education projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
- With input from Executive Director, establish annual work plan, budget, and timeline based on the Foundation’s strategic plan.
- Set, with input from Executive Director, and meet annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on work plan.
- Work to advance the Foundation’s strategic business objectives.
- Serve as a Foundation Assistant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Skills and Abilities:
- May require ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 – 50 pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.
- Requires ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
- Possess the speech, visual, and hearing capacity necessary to respond efficiently, effectively, and alertly to all circumstances.
Major Tasks:
Major tasks include: work closely with the Executive Director in implementing an annual work plan for Project WET USA national office; assist the Executive Director in establishing and maintaining an active national network of Project WET USA state / host institution programs; assist in the preparation of an annual report on Project WET USA; assist in organizing and conducting network building and leadership training workshops for key network leaders (state Project WET sponsors, advisory council members, partners and funding sources); assist in planning the annual Project WET USA Conference and Advanced Training; produce and collaborate on the publication of the wEt-MAIL; work to maintain the intranet WEB-Ex.
Assistant Project Management:
The assistant will support in managing select water resources education projects related to the Project WET network as assigned by the Executive Director. This will include establishing project research and development teams, conducting meetings; tracking budgets, preparing progress and final reports, and completion of project objectives (i.e. conduct a conference, write a publication, or provide a specific service to the Project WET network).
The Assistant to Project WET USA Executive Director is supervised by the Project WET USA Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- B.A. or B.S. degree in Education, Natural Resources/Environmental Studies, or closely related field or equivalent experience.
- Diverse computing skills: Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and the internet.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Capable of working well in a collaborative, office environment
Additional:
- Formal or non formal teaching experience; especially science education.
- Knowledge of water resources management issues.
Salary: $12.00 - $12.50 per hour
DOE, plus benefits; this is a full time position.
Continuance of position beyond August 31, 2010 is contingent upon availability of funds.
