Trainings

“Project WET’s strong track record of quality training guarantees effective implementation of curriculum and models best practices.”      Anita Maxwell, Montana Afterschool Network Coordinator

Activities in the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide and many of its other popular educator guides, including WOW! Wonders of Wetlands and Healthy Water, Healthy People, are provided to educators through workshops, which follow a train-the-trainer model.

The delivery model resembles a pyramid: Project WET forms the point, and workshop facilitators are the broad and essential base, or foundation, of the network.

The delivery model functions as follows:

  • Project WET partners with city, regional, state or country organizations to establish Project WET programs. These organizations are called host institutions.
  • Each city, regional, state or country program designates a Project WET coordinator, who receives training and support from Project WET.
  • The city, regional, state or country Project WET coordinator then conducts Project WET workshops for educators or trains and supports facilitators, who conduct workshops for educators in their community.
  • Trained educators then use Project WET activities to teach students about water and water resources.

Why does Project WET deliver activities through workshops?
Project WET believes face-to-face training can further Project WET implementation in schools, corporations and communities. Training:

  • is held by Project WET coordinators and facilitators at the community level.
  • creates opportunities for participants to network and share implementation ideas.
  • encourages participants to translate knowledge into communication and action.
  • is supported by the Project WET website.
