World Toilet Day

Observed annually on November 19th, World Toilet Day "aims to break the taboo around toilets and draw attention to the global sanitation challenge," according to the WTD website.

Think you know about toilets? Think again. Did you know?

  • One in three people worldwide does not have access to a toilet.
  • More people die from disease caused by not having a toilet than from HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
  • Worldwide, more people have mobile phones than have toilets.
  • Toilets have saved more lives than any other invention in history.
