Educate. Empower. Act. The mission of Project WET is to reach children, parents, educators and communities of the world with water education. We invite you to join us in educating children about the most precious resource on the planet — water.
The ocean, of course!
This Saturday (June 8th) is the 2013 observance date for World Oceans Day, the official UN-designated international day of ocean celebration. The theme for World Oceans Day 2013 and 2014 is one that resonates with the Project WET Foundation: "Together we have the power to protect the ocean!" Project WET believes that water education can empower people and communities to meaningful action to address local issues. And while not every person lives near the ocean, we all take actions that affect the health of our ocean. For example, taking part in a community water cleanup--no matter where the water is--can positively impact the ocean. That's because water systems are connected, in the words of author Joel Harper, "all the way to the ocean."
Project WET offers resources for kids, parents, educators and other community members to learn about the ocean and how they can be a part of protecting it. Here are a few:
