Worldwide Water Education

Educate. Empower. Act. The mission of Project WET is to reach children, parents, educators and communities of the world with water education. We invite you to join us in educating children about the most precious resource on the planet — water.

Hydration: Water and You

Water is critical for sustaining a healthy lifestyle and desirable weight. Based on age, the amount of water varies in the body. For example, a baby’s body is 75% water, whereas an adult female’s is 60%.

To maintain peak physical and mental performance, it is important to remain hydrated.

The amount of liquid required for adequate hydration is about 1.8 liters for boys and 1.6 liters for girls but increases with an individual’s activity level.

Goal

To inform and educate young people about the following hydration topics:

  1. Through natural and well-managed human systems, water is renewable through the water cycle.
  2. Water and body function
  3. Water is life.
  4. Healthy beverage choices
  5. The importance of proper hydration
  6. Throughout the world, we are all connected through our need for clean water.
  7. It is the simple choices you make each day that add up to a healthier lifestyle.
