Worldwide Water Education

Educate. Empower. Act. The mission of Project WET is to reach children, parents, educators and communities of the world with water education. We invite you to join us in educating children about the most precious resource on the planet — water.

Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide

Based on the water-resource challenges they face daily, the Project WET network has requested this revision to contemporize the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide.

The network includes educators and community leaders, in addition to the USA Coordinators, who implement Project WET, sponsored by their state agency (i.e., Department of Natural Resources, Water Management District, Department of Environmental Quality), museum or university.

Since the first year of publication, USA Coordinators have distributed to teachers and community educators an average of 20,000 Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guides each year, who in turn, annually reach millions of children and youth.

With the revision, and addition of an internet portal, Project WET is leveraging technology to reach more educators and students with water education resources.

Goal

Over the past 25 years, global water problems have continued to escalate and affect the quality of life for billions of people.

To help students, their teachers, parents and community leaders meet 21st-century water challenges, Project WET believes water education has never been more important.

Through water education, individuals:

  • find their place in the hydrological cycle.
  • identify their watershed address.
  • recognize that water knows no boundaries—flowing through and connecting us all.

Moving from understanding to community action or ActionEducation™ (action-education.html), students, teachers, parents and thought-leaders are empowered to act locally. They contribute to:

  • a healthier local environment and economy.
  • recognizing, on a global scale, the precarious balance of water resources and worldwide stability.
